Acceleration Hesitation

hey guys, I have an 84 N/A Regal, I gave the car a full tune up and lowered the idle to 900 RPM and ever since, everytime i take off from a stop the car hesitates before full power kicks in and i also noticed that it bogs down sometime when im on a highway or constant straight drive, it feels like it pulls back or something. Also if im stopped for more then a minute in drive the check engine light comes on but after i drive for about 5 mins it goes away. Any Ideas? Thanks all. My first post WOO HOO! lol

Your idle is too low. How did you set the idle? your suppost to set the idle with the car in drive with a friend holding the brakes or something likr that. If you did it with the car in neutral, then it is too low. The transmissions parisitic load will drag the idle RPM below what it is suppost to.

What should the idle be set to? A mechanic rcommended i set it to 900. This isnt a racing car, so I just want what should be best for everyday driving. It's A 231 V6 N/A
