Driving lights

I have a 2000 Silverado, and the problem I have is the driving lights do not come on during the day, no matter the light conditions. I know about the ability to shut off my headlights with the dome over ride, but I like the feature of them being on, and can't figure out if my sensor is bad or how I can check this easily. I have a service book, but there aren't any details about this, and the schematics are not very helpful.

There's a good chance the bulbs in your daytime running lights are shot. They are different from your headlights and burn out pretty frequently.

thanks for responding, I thought about that, but if both were bad, I would think my head lights and my driving lights would be off. As it is, my headlights never switch to the driving lights, which is why I suspect my sensor.
