Must read re: 95 escort chugging..

Well after a month of digging around I finally found a mechanic that has a radio show down here in Fl who pinpointed the problem right on the phone.. Mass Air Flow Sensor... $99 bucks at autozone and it took under 5 minutes to install... He also told me that the MAF sensor is on the bulletin board as a defective part, but ford won't recall it..

Would this have anything to do with massive fuel consumption?

The MAF Sensor tell if the car is idle or moving 50 or 60mpr. if it's not working right it could make the car use more gas.
