Clutch question

What's clutch chatter?
This phenomenon results from a clutch that repeatedly grabs hold of the
flywheel and then loses it's grip. You will notice clutch chatter the most
in 1st gear accelerating from a complete stop. The whole car will shudder
as the clutch slips and then grabs... then repeats. Eventually the clutch
should catch, and off you go.

Typically performance/racing clutches have some to severe clutch chatter.
To some extent you can avoid the chatter by riding on (aka slipping) the
clutch.

This is what my clutch is doing. is there any way to fix this without buying new clutch?

I had clutch chatter on my previous car, 1994 Accord LX, and there was no way to get rid of it. On up hills from a stop, it was the worst. The only way was to rev it up, and dump the clutch.

for my accord, the clutch chatter was the worst when I tried to ride it, that's why I had to either apply less gas than usual, so the chatter wouldn't be as large, or to just drop the clutch really quick.

Since it was my stock clutch, I thought it might've been damaged.

i think i have this problem. Does it make a lot of noise when clutch chatter happens? My car makes a lot of noise when starting off in 1st and its embarrassing cuz it is loud and everyone looks at me. I think my co-worker said it resulted in a bad bearing of some type. Only sometimes it makes a lot of noise but it depends on my driving habbit when getting out of 1st gear.

My clutch screams sometimes, and some other times it'll chatter. I was told my 4 puck clutch was supposed to do this bekuz my friend had the same kind of clutch in his civic, and it made the same noises and did the same things

just change your clutch, pressure plate, resurface the flywheel (or get a lighter one) and replace the throwout bearing. its a pain but it worth it oh btw you will also need a 6mm 20mm spring/roll pin. and a torque wrench with 87ft pds of torque. replace it! it will only get worst you need a new clutch.

Well, from the inside, everything shakes and sounds like the engine is going to jump out of the car--kind of like an earthquake occurring under the hood.

By sounds, it just makes a thumping sound, like it's trying to hop straight up or as if you were going over very bumpy road.
