stall after hit tank switch button

1995 ford 150 inline 6 155,000 miles every time i get gas i alternate the tanks that i fill for exampe fill up front and put five gal in rear tank and vice versa . after driving for about fourty miles or so i did some fishing after driving to a few different spots shuting the truck off three or four times my truck would not start on the full tank however, it will start fine on the tank with five gallons. when i switch from the five gallon tank to the full tank it will stall very fast . where do i begin fuses , sending units ,the pump inside the full tank ????????

it could be the fuel pump or burnt fuel select switch too
