All you need to do is to get a bog-standard Jap car plaster it with stickers, add a body kit, big wheels and a fart pipe and you have a normal street racers car

Jimmy - you know a rookie shouldn't put more then one sticker on their car until they know what their doing. At 40HP per sticker (based on an average size of 6X12) they might not be able to control their festiva properly.

Go cruising one night and make sure you catch every red light and that ur 1st in line. Rev up hard a few times in neutral and see if you get a response from the person beside you. If you do... wait till the light gets green and let it rip!

and the way i started street racing, just so u get at least one straight response, is to seek out all the fixed up cars i could find, imports mainly but not limited to, and ask if they wanna race. i won some, i lost some, eventually i found the right group of people who did the whole "organized" street racing thing, now i go every friday and saturday night.

this is a difficult question to answer since it really depends too where you're at... so there's no straight answer that'll be the same everywhere...
if you really want to get into street racing (or anything else as a matter of fact) then just do it

Lets see, oh yea its all comming back to me now..... Bout 3 years ago myself and 2 of my friends took a little road trip in my dads brand spankin new Subaru 2.5RS. While we were driving around we drove past the Burger King that had cars like crazy, imports, domestics, everything. I pulled up in the middle of it and fit in quite nicley with the Impreza. At first I thought it was just a car show but then i saw a group come together in the middle of the parking lot, I went over and over heard some major $$ being thrown around, in the end this guys in a vette bet this dude in an eclipse 2k he could wax the floor with him. So a group of us followed them to this deserted idustrial road were they staged up and raced like 3 different races. The vette got its ass handed to it, that night I raced too, a $50 race against a "93 civic hatch, I took him off the line, but later I found out he had a B18C in it, that would explain why he just walked away from me at higher speed. Any way thats how I got started, I had just turned 16 and to this day i still do it, although the cops busted the Burger King scene we still have our ways...

what we need is some rich guy to donate a lot of land or street just for racing then no one will bust our chops since its private property.

My friend and I had that same idea. We were going to set up a drag strip and have it stay open all night. But as soon as we started to seriosly toss the idea around we found out that the inssurence on drag strips are expensive. But think, if people had an opertunity to go race legaly with no interuption from the law that would be great. oh well:D :D :D

we found this old agricultural airpoet with a small runway, not visible from the road so no cops, and as long as u avoid the huge potholes its great. 1/4 mile of it is smooth, its the slowdown area thats all roughed up.

Do you really need insurance? I mean, if you have people sign waivers and an make an announcement or a huge sign on the entrance that states they are not insured or no one will be liable, then i think you'd be covered.
I'm sure you can even get the support of cops or other city officials... just sell advertisement on the strip itself via huge billboards or something... that would be sweet. I don't think you need to spend a lot of money into it....
