The second one sounds decent... bottom line is, if you have the money, then you give them the title and car. If you are accepting Paypal, require a 3 day period for the funds to clear. I was selling a bov for a friend on ebay, and received funds from Indonesia via paypal; they were fraudulent. I had to drive over to my buddy's house and stop him on his way to the post office to mail it. But basically, as the saying goes, money talks. Tell people they are welcome to come see it, test drive it, and that you can only hold it for them after they put down a deposit (I would recommend a $500 nonrefundable). This way, you'll be able to tell if they're serious or not. If they make the deposit and they're not serious, you have an extra $500 :). Just don't ship the car anywhere or let them take it anywhere without you in the car until you have the full money.

Also, make sure to write up a bill of sale for the transaction, regardless of how you decide to transfer the title. Make SURE you put "as is where is" in the bill of sale, and have both parties sign this. I had a bad experience in selling my camaro where the kid who bought it beat on it the next 2 days after buying, and sprung an oil leak in the seals of a 10 yr. old car. He wanted me to shell out $1000 from the buying price to help him fix it. It had never leaked oil for me, so I wasn't about to do that. But, because I hadn't put "vehicle is being sold as is, where is" in the bill of sale, he gave me a legal scare. Luckily my friend's dad is a lawyer, helped handle everything with no problems so far.

OK this essay is done. Just wanted to share with you my car selling tips :). Hit me up if you need any help with a bill of sale, advertising etc.; if I wasn't dead set on a manual, I would buy it!

If you take checks, just let them clear before you do anything, and you should be fine.

Ramesh,

Thanks for the response and my client is willing to offer $6,300 for your car. However, you have to give us
sometime to contact our client on phone, we have been
trying his line for sometime now i believe is switched
off, The amount in the check he deposited for the
order is bigger than what should be paid to you,
though it's meant for the total expenses which
includes the purchase , the pick up and the shipping
bills. so we want to know if we shall carry on with
that or if he will make arragement for another check
ASAP. he is presently in china . just hang on ,
i will get back to you as soon as i conclude issues
with him.
Acknowledge,
Thanks

DO NOT sell it to this person. I've read a couple of scams just like this one. Let's say you settle on $7000 including shipping. The buyer will "accidently" send you a check for, say $8000 and ask you to send him back a check for the extra $1000 after you deposit the check. Meanwhile you ship the car and send back the $1000, the check you took is going back to the original bank, which takes over a week, and they will discover that its a bad check. Now you are out a car, $7000 for the car, and $1000 that you sent them back.

I said it before and I will say it again... If you take checks, just let them clear before you do anything, and you should be fine. Or better yet do NOT take checks.

I am happy to tell you that we have concluded with our
client and he has instructed to carry on with his
check, that means that payment will get to you in a
cashier check of $11,800 which is a refund payment
of a cancelled order earlier made by my client.
Due to company policy this check has to be made out in
this amount to you ,because company policy only allows
a refund payment on one cashier check,so you are
required to deduct cost of your car $6,300 when
payment gets to you and refund balance $5,500.00
(after deducting western union charges ) to my
customer via western union money transfer for him to
be able to offset shipping charges down here.
After payment has reached you and balance sent back to
him,our agent will come for the pick up and drive to a
prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer, while
title papers and other necessary documets will be sent
by you via! fedex courier to my customer.
Please Confirm this and provide name, address and phone
number for check payment to be delivered to you via
fedex courier.
I hope you can be trusted with such amount of money .
Thanks,
Vikky...

dude he def sounds like he's trying to sucker you. ask him to speak in normal terms. and if he still dicks around with you with this retarded scam, do it to him... cash the check.. and never send him the refund. just more money for you... and you can still sell your car! :evillol:

95eclipse-gsx
03-15-2004, 09:36 PM
i was thinking abt it.. i was thinking abt cash the check then close my bank account and open in a different bank... but i asked him for his info and replies me like a robot given its instructions by someone... dammit

drewh4386
03-15-2004, 09:36 PM
Or dumber and dumber is what I really meant. Why not a brand new check? See if he can make the check out to be the exact amount. Then ask to pay shipping after check clears......if check clears

If he wants it that bad, he would do it.

Import2nr99

the guy is supposed to be a diplomat... c'mon. he'd def have an accountant. so all they have to do is void the check, and send you a new one for the exact amount. ask him to do this, if he refuses tell him to sod off and try stealing money from someone else cause it's def a prank... or, do like I said, open a new account, cash the check, and tell him you never got it haha. whats he gonna do? if he's scamming people the last thing he want to do is get legal involvement. It's your choice man... good luck.

Oh and if you do decide to cash the check... and you need to hide the cash somewhere.. let me know.. I'll gladly um.. dispose of it for you!

Personally, i wouldn't send anything to anyone until i have cash in my hand, in the full amount. If they don't wanna agree to that, someone else who wants the car will.

I read that you do have to watch...they get you by knowing exactly how the check clearing works. Apparently when you take a cashiers check to the bank they will cash the check (after a possible 1 - 2 day waiting period). So now you have the cash...all good, right WRONG! Now the bank sends the check to the bank it was drawn from and they say that it is bogus. You have already sold the car and possibly sent him the difference.....then BANG they subtract the $11,800 from your account. Now you owe the bank $11,800 and you have no car! :banghead:

EclipseRST
03-16-2004, 01:37 PM
some of that is wrong... the bank would never allow you to cash a check for $11800 if the check was from a different bank... the only thing you could do is deposit it and wait until it clears! unless you already have $11800 in your account to cover it, shit if i dont have $200 in my account they wont let me cash a $200 check! well they have gotten better now but thats the way they were before!
