Grew up in northern Indiana calling it pop. Moved out west (New Mexico, Texas) and learned to call it soda. Still call it soda.

In Arizona we call it soda, my dad is from jersey and he calls it "Soder" (with an e). He also calls a drawer a "draw" which is funny. Once i was in Idaho getting camping supplies and saw a sign that said "pop." I stood and looked at it for a while until i realized what it ment.

should i have put coke in the poll? i was born in Illinois learned that it was pop, then lived in Pa and now in Tx where they call it soda, but i still call it pop, and thats my story.

in florida its either coke or soda. emphasis on the coke though. i was born in Iowa (dont laugh) and it was called pop.

I'm from the northwest and i usually hear soda not pop. But more often I hear it by the brand name (pepsi or coke) or the type (dr. pepper or 7up).

It's all relative to your location. Pop is more commonly used up north. Soda is more common in the South. However, a few southern states like Texas and Florida use Coke as the general reference to soda. So you could want a Dr. Pepper or Pepsi and refer to it as Coke, like Boingo said.

I can attest to that in Indiana. In Minnesota, they call it "soda" with that annoying ass accent of theirs. In LA they usually call it whatever brand it is, being the snotty name-brand obsessed folks they are.
