What's wrong with Neons? Seriously? I own one. Compared to stock to stock Neons are a lot better then Civics. My ACR weighs less has a bigger engine with more HP and TQ then even a hatch Civic. Granted it all comes down to the driver.

Depending on what Neon you find they can be pretty quick. My 98 Neon ACR has adjustable Koni struts stock and 4 wheel disc brakes. I my opinion thats a pretty good platform to start from.

I would take an SRT4 over an honda any day :D

lol...i would never buy a civic or neon...but if an SRT-4 neon were to fall in my hands...i'd drive it awhile...till it got boring then sell it...i mean a week or two playing with a car that runs 13.2 sec 1/4 isnt that bad of a heart break for me... (and the 13.2 sec 1/4 was saw with my own eyes...on thing modded on it was the LSD in the front)

a friend of mine beat an '01 Prelude in his new STOCK CIVIC...it was pretty damn funny...
the prelude has a bodykit and an injen intake...but that's pretty much it...after such a disgrace, Prelude owner now regrets "suping up" his car...i think he's just making excuses...hehe...

i raced a 90's civic before, i was toyin with him also. at the stop light we looked at each other, he gunned it but i kept up just playin around with him (not flooring it). His engine was workin real hard as I can hear it scream, then when it was around 40 I floored it and went like 10 cars ahead of him, then slowed down to a reasonable speed, pretty funny. Then when I was makin my turn and got in the left turn lane he got his top-speed up to 70 (in a 45) and zoomed past me, was hilarious.

You kidding? The Si would fuckin SPANK any year 240sx. So would an Integra GS-R, so would a Prelude VTEC. Any Honda VTEC cars have a huge advantage versus any 240sx (talking stock for stock). Even the non-VTEC Integras and Preludes will beat a 240 with matched drivers...although the lower end Civics have a disadvantage. I'm talking from experience, I have street raced and gone to tracks for 5 years. If you wanna argue, look up the 1/4 mile times for all of these cars. I'm right.


Anyways, low end torque doens't always win an acceleration race. F1 cars with a 17k redline have like 80 ft/lbs of torque and approach 1000 horsepower...They do the 1/4 in low 9 to high 8.... Point being that top end horsepower will get you there if you have enough of it, which is what VTEC does for a Honduh.

1) I use to ride in various hondas, supped up and stock, I was a honda guy, I know how they drive, and I know what use to kick my ass.

2) Dont make vtec sound goldly, honestly it wasnt that impressive, it made driving kind of fun when you stopmped the shit out of it.

3) RWD -> :twak: <- FWD

4) Low end torque is the shit hommie, thats why domestics kill imports everyday.

5) 2.4L > 1.6

6) I'm sure those F1 cars are light as fuck.

I know low end torque "is the shit", as I own a Corvette. I also agree that RWD is superior. And once again, there is no replacement for displacement.

HOWEVER, I did not make VTEC sound "god like", I just said it gives Hondas that top end horsepower that they have that makes them take on a 240. I DO agree with you, most of the time a skilled driver in a 240 will take a Honda. Mostly because Honda drivers can't drive for shit. I used to beat them all the time with my old S14. My only point I was trying to make was that with EQUALLY matched drivers, the Hondas are just faster cars.

All the hondas and acuras are lighter than the 240s. Remember, the US 240s are different than the Japan 240s. 240 with an sr20 would own a honda.

I just dont see my self getting killed by a civc, the best I'v seen a Si run personally was in the 16's never seen one go below 16's, driving them..I admit..it's kinda fun, but it still doesnt give me the "sit the fuck back" effect that my s13 does. Maby it's the weight, it has to be the weight.... But a civic killen a 240..just blah.

I have two friends that both own Civic DXs with the 1.6 and they are slow as hell. Doesn't one of the Sis come with around 160hp? but i also heard that the torque is very low.

the integra type r (like the 99-00 model) will beat an s14 silvia in the 1/4. i had a clip off of kaaza but i can't find it.

I've Raced An Civic Si And They Were Hitting 15.3's Which Killed My 240sx.... Hell The Cavalier Ecotec Beats The 240sx And Loses Greatly To The Civic Si.

In response to the original post, even you're lucky. I live in an area where souped up neons AND civics abound. And I'm SOO lucky to live on a busy corner too. Nasty ass exhaust blarrin past my house every 5 minutes. I feel so glad not having one of those cars.
Anyway, a stock 240sx should beat a stock civic (not civic si). And a 240sx SR20DET can beat almost every stock Honda in America, cept the S2000.
