Hey Guys

I just received 2 sets of VIP Scara's and both sets the Chrome Plating on the LIP has been scratched. Just wondering how does Alclad 2 Chrome compare?

Its just those parts are really nice and it might be hard to get them to exchange it.

Alclad is great!! it's tricky for me to use but everyone else seem to do well with it.

is it even comparable to the plating though? interms of shinyness?

The key to a good chrome shine with Alclad is a glossy black undercoat. The link shows it over FLAT black. Trev.

Yeah - me too. I've not heard of it.Is it similar to Bare Metal foil. If so , then I guess there must be a join somewhere.

Alclad Chrome is a pre-thinned laquer that is sprayed over a GLOSS black base coat and looks like plating if done correctly. I think it is going to be available in aerosol cans soon. Try www.SCALERACECARS.com

Just about to use this stuff for the first time but its just a touch unclear how to apply it. I know it should be applied over black, but can it be TS semi gloss black or must it be gloss. And it says on alclad's website (link) that chrome should only be applied over black model enamel paint !!!. Does this mean that chrome should not be applied over ts black for example.

Would appreciate some help from someone who's already using this stuff.
Later, Mike. :smokin:

It should be gloss and you should use either their base or Testor's Model Master Gloss Black enamel. Enamel is soft so it allows the Alclad to bite and grip. Apply the Alclad while the enamel is still wet. I sprayed it immediately after sparying the enamel.
