Need some more headroom

Hey,

I never considered myself a really tall person until I got the eclipse. I love it and I am not selling it, But I sure would like some more headroom. As it stands right now the seat is all the way back, and leaned as far back as I can while reaching the steering wheel. And I still hit my head alot. Is there any seat lowering kits for my car? Or if I went with racing seats are they any lower?

Cheers
Ben

Seats will lower you a bit. A friend installed the 69 dollar Summit seat/covers in his 1g. You practically sit on the floor, and it couldve been even lower if you get creative with your mounting brackets. It takes a little bit of custom work to install them since you have to find a way to mount them. It took him a couple hours and 25 bucks in aluminum square tubing to do it. Sounds like it would make you a little more comfortable, I would try it. I'd hate to give up the comfort of the power leather seats, but you also will get some significant weight savings. ;)

I've seen those summit ones, but they look like hard plastic. That can't be comfortable.

Hey,

Thanks for the replys. Main reason I was thinking about some racing seats is www.autoleathers.com you can get a whole leather interior that is done in racing seats pretty darn cheap. Somewhere in the 700-1000 range. Now that it is warming up things are a little better. Cause the sunroof is open all the time.

The summit seats are hard plastic, thats why you get the cover. All seats are hard plastic underneath :p They seemed comfortable for a 10 minute ride, and he said they were for an hour long ride, but I plan to take a ride out to the track to see for myself.

You can try some more comfortable aftermarket seats, the tough part will be getting one that moutns low. Most of them are big POSs. But if you get creative with the brackets, you should be able to get them at least a little lower than the stock ones. The bottoms of the stock seats are a bit thicker with the power crap.

Either way, good luck with it. You are definitely not the first to complain about the ridiculously high seating position in the 2g. :)

I'm 6'2'' and dont even have the seat all the way back. If I do, it feels like I am too far away from the wheel and pedals. I'm not cramped up in the front either, but I do have my seat tilted back ricer style because it's more comfortable :)
