The last EVO I raced, was kind of Funny. Here is what happened... I was heading home from work the Monday after race day, and I still had my race number on my wind shield. It was about 9:30 pm and I stopped at a light when this black EVO pulled up next to me with the ugliest Green Neon Glow coming from under the car and that high winding noise of his MOMO Muffler. He yelled over to me and said that my Mustang sounded good and said does it run as good as it sounds... I told him I have no complaints, he made some remark I did not hear and then he said let's race, I told him that You do not want to race me... He just laughed and said ok let's see... He reved his motor and when the light changed we were off... I had him off the line no problem then I hit second and he pulled past me then I hit third then fourth and by that time it was all over... I had beat him by at least three car lengths... At the next light he pulled up to me and said, your mustang does not run 14:33 does it, I said to him where did you get that Idea, he said I saw your race time on your car window.. I laughed and said that was not my race time that was my race number...

It was not I that was surprised I beat him it was the EVO driver who was surprised he did not win. His mistake was that he thought my race number on my windshield of 1433 was my 1/4 mile time... His Mistake...
The MOMO muffler may well be wrong, as I do not follow the Ricer aftermarket, All I can was trying to convey was the muffler was really large maybe 6-8 inches in Diameter and sticking out of his rear valance, it also sounded like my leaf blower moter...

Awesome job man. 5.0s rock... I'm thinking about getting one when I'm in the service (if I'm on base I won't have to drive far so the bad gas mileage won't kill me :P) But once again, good job broh!

LOL. Momo makes steering wheels and I believe shift knobs. I own an EVO BTW. You clearly have a cocky persona that's gonna be popped with that attitude. The 4g63 engine can be made to run 10's. Am i surprised you beat him, heck no. A bored and stroked 347 w/ heads/ S/C / exh. / etc... is gonna spank most any car out there (Actually probably 99% of the cars out there). Your attitude is biased though. People like you never admit when they lose, especially to the cars that they hate the most (In your case imports).

I was about to throw bs untill the slip. Good kill, but don't call ricer on the 4g63 motor... it can be made to run 8s with a decent amount of work. 10's if you wanna keep it on the street.

my only comment is about ricer aftermarket. that doesn't make since to me, maybe import aftermarket but isn't ricer dumb poeple that know nothing about cars? cause if thats the case then a 10 sec supra is a ricer too wich would make love to you at the drags. i guess he's just a japanese hater doesn't like anything over seas.

Quick91, sounds like you have one hell of stang. And it looks great, very zzzzzzzzzz.... Put some ten holes on that thing, and you have one hell of a sleeper! (those Cobra's look great on your car by the way.) I wouldn't call a EVO 8 a ricemobile though... They a very fast for the price.

Nice kill. I love EVOs, but anyone that puts neon F&F lighting on one deserves to die a horrible death. Very nice stang as well. You gotta love sleepers, though I'm sure as soon as you hear the think it's not very sleeperish any more.

this 45 year old woman seen some neon under a car at my job and she wants some on her suv. also my 32 year old cousin thought the same thing. i guess what i'm saying is because somone likes neon under there car makes them a ricer? if its just for looks same way rims and color tints are for looks so is that. now if the guy thinks it makes him faster thats a diff story, but whats wrong with liking lights :dunno:

nothin wrong with the lights... thats not riced out at all... ricer is the guy with all lights bodykit etc... but no performance mods (still nothing wrong yet) then revving on people at lights and thinking but more importantly hyping up (you know the loud mouths im talking about) that the car is fast

I would have to disagree there. Chevy power walks the 5.0 mod for mod and even more mods on the 5.0
Even the DOHC cobras get walked on mod for mod by my brothers Impala SS. they come with more power, less weight, manual transmissions, and still get walked on. Especially on the top end, thats when u start putting buslengths on them.
Don't get me wrong the 5.0 then the newer 4.6 aren't really that bad of engines when u look at some other econo engines LOL, but I think ford was always on the lower level going with the 5.0 against chevy's 305's and mainly 350's back in the 80's early 90's. Then when the LT1 and LS1 came out chevy was really making some stock small block power. While ford on the other started with the lower displacement 5.0, then i think took the wrong direction and downsized again to the 4.6.
Just think of the possibilties and how the mustang might be thought of differently by todays young car generation if they came with the 351's and shit stock back from the 80's on. Or even used a SOHC 5.4 instead of the 4.6 when they changed engines in the mid 90's.
I like import cars and engines as well as domestics, and I will honestly admit theres no replacement for displacement, and displacement is what makes power.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Ford win the Muscle car wars of the 80's and 90's. Let's see Chevy Camaro no longer offered or being manufactured any longer... Ford Mustang still going strong... 2005 Mustang 4.6 300 hp 320 fp torque 2004 Mustang Cobra 390 hp 415 fp of torque... I think ford knows wxactly what it is doing... The 5.0 and 4.6 are outstanding engines and make alot of horsepower for very littel money...
Also the Camaro and Firebirds of the 80's and 90's could not compete in the horspower field with ford until 2001 camara ss with the LS1 and LS6 motor... But those cars cost well over $35000.00 dollars new and you could still get a SVO Mustang with 320 HP for around $28000.00. in 2001 and 2002.

with a stock 91 lx 5.0, what would it cost to get the car into the 11's?
and considering i'm friends with quite a few 11 second mustangs, i know it's not cheap. at all...
another thing to consider...
buschur doesn't even go internal on their motors in stage 4.
also keep in mind that there are a considerable amount of 500+hp evo's on stock internals in the country...
and i'm willing to bet that it costs far less to get an eveo to 500hp and the associated 1/4 times than it does to do the same with a mustang 5.0.
and that's my opinion, of course...
but we're talking about someone who has alot of knowledge in both areas.

I'm not too sure about how much it would take an EVO to get there, but give me a first gen eclipse gsx and 10 grand and I could make it into 10s. Give me another 5 and it would be perfectly streetable.
But please, lets not turn this into an import vs domestic thread. Bottom line is, if it goes fast, it's good, if it doesn't, it's not. Who gives a shit where it was made?

not too familiar with american aftermarket as i am with import but i do know that turbo charged cars are very easy to upgrade and very cheap. speaking $3000 could even drop me to the 11's(3000 more)

That's hard to believe from an EVO. It should of been the opposite. Evo got you off the line and you pull ahead in Second. Normaly on Turbo Charged cars and AWD cars You get beat till about second.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Ford win the Muscle car wars of the 80's and 90's. Let's see Chevy Camaro no longer offered or being manufactured any longer... Ford Mustang still going strong... 2005 Mustang 4.6 300 hp 320 fp torque 2004 Mustang Cobra 390 hp 415 fp of torque... I think ford knows wxactly what it is doing... The 5.0 and 4.6 are outstanding engines and make alot of horsepower for very littel money...

For the Most part... both cars have been right with each other from the get go... Chevy always had a slight advantage. But not every year, like the early 90's when Ford started to really make a decent EFI setup for the 5.0. Match that power plant to the lightweight Fox body chassis and they're rocket ships on a budget. Chevy counted on it's torquey TPI 350 to carry it's fat tubby butt faster down the 1320ft strip.
I personally like both cars, from many different years and era's of build design. Both have awesome aftermarket support. Both can be made blindingly fast. It mainly comes down to which car you like the looks of more, kinda like the LancerEVO and the Impreza WRS STi battle. They've been so close in performance through the years, you can basically pick which car you like best in the looks department and still be as fast as the next guy.
Hopefully with the return of the GTO to the USDM... we'll see a rise in GM performance minded vehicles. Such as the Camaro/Firebird.
Time can only tell... next few years should be interesting.

RedNeck383, your right about the f-body being the faster car in the 93 and on range. But in the 80's and very early 90s the fastest 5.0 would outrun the fastest camaro. Every1 just calm down Mustang vs. Camaro battle is like any other long standing rivalry... in the end it's really a draw. Although I would refute some of the numbers Redneck put up he was just trying to make a good general point. Yea the 80's early 90's belonged to the Fox Mustangs but the 93 up F-bodies definetly jumped ahead and the F-bodies owned the mid to late 70's vs the Mustang II :disappoin and the early years was back and forth year to year but that's just how it goes. One is on top for a bit till the other brings an answer.

evo has ugly rear lights and reminds me a bit of a mercedes from the front --- dont ask me why, just my opinion. the mustang lost all of its glory after they neutered it in the fuel crisis... good kill anyway neon is ugly as hell... i mean... lights under a car? whats the point... and another note, you americans who r like driving a modded EVO when ure like 19 or whatever is really lucky man cuz in norway you will be lucky to be driving something with 100 hp+ for ure first car... im kinda lucky im gonna inherit my fathers bmw 318is, but honestly, what has the camaro and the mustang to do with this. good kill and dont be biased towards japanese cars, there r several of them that are really great! Take that wing off the Evo8 and you will notice the difference! That rear-end will be sliding all-over the place without it! There is another world out there where the tracks are not straight at all and the cars still have wings! I'm sure this is very alien to you but it's true... Get a real car and you may discover this...

top-speed! The wing is even used to slow the cars down in corners so they do not slide out at high speed cornering... or were you unaware of that too? Take that wing off the Evo8 and you will notice the difference! That rear-end will be sliding all-over the place without it! There is another world out there where the tracks are not straight at all and the cars still have wings! I'm sure this is very alien to you but it's true... Get a real car and you may discover this...
