Can anyone explain to me the correct process for changing the rear spark plugs in a 97 Cutlass Supreme withthe 3.1 in it. I tried the braille method and my hands are too big to get behind the engine. Thanks

youre gonna love this, take the tires off and drop the motor out. in case you didnt notice, our motors are kinda upside down, you either gotta fit in there or take it out.

before dropping the motor out.
Try disconnecting front "dogbone" motor mounts that attach to beam behind rad. Engine will now rotate forward (with prybar) enough to get to rear spark plugs. Same process on my 1990, Just be careful not to damage wiring to O2 sensor when rotating engine forward.
Good luck!

I disconnect the torque struts [Dog Bones] and use a ratchet tie down strap to pull the engine forward enough to get clearance.
I also move the couple of items from the top back of the engine for clearance.
I still get scratched up when I remove the plug boots.
Not much clearance by the alternator and no clearance on the other side.

You can also remove the exhaust mainifold and get to them from the bottom.

I don't think the configuration has changed since my 91. I had the alternater off and noticed it left a nice hole to change the plugs.
