it will make your engine sound louder, you will hear it suck in the air. thats about it.

It wont make your exhaust sound louder, but you definetely hear the sucking noise, its not annoyingly loud, but more of a background noise, its tight tho... :loser:

Hey I just realized I put the wrong smiley on there, it wasnt supposed to be the loser one, it was supposed to be :iceslolan , oops, but yea, nice call Mike, having a less aggressive exhaust and a killer intake system sounds soooooo tight. I love the suckin when I'm drivin...oh...and since we're supposed to be talkin about cars...I love the sound of the intake too... :lol2:

there isn't enough room in a civic for that... CAI i mean.. you have to relocate the battery!

if you use an 88-91 CAI you dont have to move anything. i had to relocate my battery to use a 99-00 Si intake, but thats becuase its not designed to go in our cars :P

88-91 AEM CAI fit perfectly for my car.

heres a pic of my AEM cai with both my old dx engine and the z6 swap i have now. you do not have to relocate the battery if you use the 88-91 civic CAI, the only problem you might have is if you use the water bypass valve like i have it will probably hit the battery if you have a DX w/ DPFI still.

Yes my AEM CAI (purchased June, 2003) is one piece. It is a lot cleaner than the 2 piece design IMO but however w/ the 2 piece u can convert to short ram...no need here though cuz we hardly ever get rain. And on the price i got mine from a shop for 150 with no tax. And go to http://www.froogle.com they are a good place to look up quick prices...and in case u dont want to i already looked it up for you here http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=88-91+civic+aem+cold+air+intake
Cheapest one on that page looks like 165.95...not sure about with a bypass valve though.

why not just go with a cheaper ebay 2 piece, that way you can have a cold air or short ram for rain and it will only cost you about $50 shipped. an intake is just a tube with a filter. why over pay on AEM? :dunno:

oh ok, well the AEM 88-91 didn't fit my Si, so i took it back and tried an APC but that didn't fit.. so i got a 15$ one off ebay and a hacksaw and some silocon couplers from menards :D

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38634&item=2466599338 this one will work but you have to relocate your battery.
this one is kinda like the one i have. when it rains just take off the other piece and make it a short ram very simple and you dont have to worry about sucking in water. the reason aem has the bypass valve is to prevent their CAI from sucking in water and hydrolocking because of its one piece design.
remember all an intake is, is just a tube to your throttle body with a filter. its nothing special.
