2000 Z71 Hesitation On Acceleration

I have a 2000 Chevy 5.3 with 118k. I don't put the hammer down much, but I have noticed that when I do punch the accelerator that the truck surges and then bogs down.

Ex.

Going 45mph on the hwy, if I punch it, it will respond, but as it accelerates it feels like it is holding back. It's almost a rocking motion. It feels like the truck is having trouble getting air, I replaced the air filter a month ago, so I doubt that is the problem.

My guess is fuel filter or intake issue, but I would like to solicit other opinions before hitting the parts store.

Thanks.

Thats pretty high milage for a 00' I would change your fuel filter, plugs, wires, pcv valve, basically give it a nice tune up, if these things havn't been replaced yet its overdue.... anyways its a good place to start and its good for the truck as well. When you get some extra coin upgrade to a K&N kit and you will see a difference.

I installed a K&N Fuel Injection Generation 2 Performance Kit in my 2000 Silverado 6.0L and it completely got rid of the hesitation problem and improved throttle response. The stock air cleaner is too restrictive.

i put on the AEM BruteForce intake... looks good, sounds better, and response is like nothing else

I too put a K&N Fuel Injection Generation 2 Performance Kit on my 2003, noticed a bit of hesitation before it was installed...pretty smooth now. Better fuel milage also. I paid under $200 on ebay for a new kit.

Good Luck

i bought mine from a website... http://www.coximport.com/store/21-8000 ..... this is the cheapest I was able to find them... but that was about a year ago.... it also gives a throaty rumble to the engine when you are accelerating....it sounds nice....

i also noticed lower fuel consumption.... i never worked the numbers... but i estimate about a 10% improvement at a minimum...

Anyone know how the Brute Force Intake compares the the K&N Generation 2 kit?
