Hey, I am new to the board. I just bought a 2003 Lancer in November I am looking into adding some upgrades (just body work) my only problem is I am afraid if I modify my car it will violate the warranty. I added an extended one so its covered for just under 7 years...I don’t wanna wait that long. I am new to all of this so please don't get mad if this has been posted before. Thanks guys.

first off, congrats on buying yourself a lancer. on your question about the warranty. adding body kits wont' void your warranty. however, you need to be careful with the front bumper cause of the airbag sensors. if you were to get into an accident where the sensors were hit but your airbags didnt' go off, the manufacturer could very well say they didnt' go off because of your body kit. its just somethig stupid they could do.

one thing i work at a bodyshop i will recommend if u do get front bumper and rear body kits in the front bumper and the rear there a piece of steel looks like a rectanglural box make sure they dont take it off to put on the kit if they modify it ask them to box it in so its square again if they take it off an u get into an accident u will most likely be killed seriously injure the box is called "REBAR" if its messed up badly or removed the front when hit above 20 mph will send the engine inside the the driveseat and smash u up same with the back the gas tank will get crunched and possibly explode with out the rebar.

I read from a Evo 8 forum that if the mods is not the factor for getting something fixed it does not void warranty. Example if your engine dies and you installed a body kit, they cannot tell you that warranty has been voided for having a body kit because it has nothing to do with the engine. Not sure how lancers would work though you need to read into it more.
