As I was taking my 92 Camry to get it smog checked, it just quit on me. I watched the tachometer needle go down, the red idiot dashboard lights came on and over to the side of the road I went. After I walked almost three miles back home, I arranged for a tow truck to take it to the nearest Toyota dealer for repair. I didn't want to chance it at that point, if you know what I mean. Bottom line: I needed a new distributor and they also installed a new cap and spark plug wires. Gee, it runs great now! Expensive at the dealer? Yes, but I was kind of stuck in this situation. I guess one new distributor in twelve years isn't all that bad.
