Can anyone help me on where to go for my research on swapping a 4age with a 3sgte?

The resulting car from this swap is commonly referred to as an "MK1.5". This just means that it is a mix between an MKI (85-89 MR2) and an MKII (90-99 MR2).

I hope this gets you started on your swap.

Cool, didnt know someone compiled all that into a pdf. Theres a few other places that have info on the swap but that is about the best site to start off with. Carl is quite the genius when it comes to shoehorning in a v6 or a 3sgte.
For quite some time after talking with Gerald Ive wanted to twincharge my 89SC but after giving it a lot, and I mean A LOT, of thought I think the best option to take is a 3sgte swap. There are far more goodies avail for the 3s over the 4a without the need of gobs of money put into the internal engine mods. I asked Gerald what the max hp he thought was realistic while maintaining some streetability and he said 500hp. I dont doubt his opinion. Of course his "moderate" 350hp would be plenty for me in a MR2.
I think I found a way to simplify the twincharged system, especially after trying it out in a pneumatic simulator but it will still cost about twice as much for the twincharged system than a 3sgte swap would cost, considering I would replace the factory sc. Of course the 3s would need more upgrades to meet the same output as the twinc but with the difference it would still be cheaper and much easier. The stock 3s ecu could be reprogrammed for a different turbo easy enough, just compare that to a TEC, Haltech, etc computer thats required with a twinc. Id love to build this twinc setup, just the sound of having a twincharger does funny things to us, but realistically and financially it would be wiser and easier to fit in a 3s. Of course the downside is "yeah... I just have another all so much more common mk1.5". But whos complaining when you are smoking anything but a few very expensive cars on handling and performance...
