sorry to get off subject but what color is it? but anyways, do the usual, intake (ya got it) intercooler piping, BOV, exhaust, some sort of boost controller, boost gauge... then once you have those things you can start thinking about a new turbo!

You can get a 1lb or 2 of free boost by removing the BCS restrictor (or waste gate solenoid as some people call it). First you have to move the coolant reservoir out of the way (you don't have to remove it from the car). Next locate the BCS restrictor I think it’s right next to the bracket that holds on the coolant reservoir. It is attached to the car with one 10mm bolt and has 2 small vacuum lines and one electrical line attached to it. It is probably only about 2" x 2" (I really can't remember it's been so long). Anyway, remove all of the lines and unbolt it from the car. If you look at the BCS you will see that the lower hole is smaller than the top hole. If you CAREFULLY (if not you are looking at about $60 for a new one :banghead: ) use a drywall screw in the bottom hole the restrictor will separate from the housing. I just threaded the screw in a little and the restrictor started to turn. Then you can just pull it out. The the good old installation is the reverse of removal (hehehe....I hate when people say that). Don't forget to reconnect the electrical (unless you only want 8 - 9lbs of boost)........Hint, Hint......The line with the metal clip goes on the bottom. Close your hood and enjoy your free boost. I did 2 cars right in a row and it only took about 15min with no problems. Just don't thread the drywall screw in too far and you will be fine. Have fun!!!

As for the BCS, i couldnt find any legible diagrams on the net...Alex has one on his site but its a bad drawing, and the last thing i want to do is play greesmunkey without the grease. .. okay i dont know what that means....shum.

if your going to cut the dump tube, you'll have your airbox off. the BCS is dirrectly underneath your air box, dont bother taking off your coolent resivore, save time and do it at the same time.

That's definitely the best time to do it. I installed my K&N FIPK and at the same time did the BCS mod and the dump tube mod. It's definitely much easier to do it all at the same time, especially with the airbox already off! :)

My intake pipe and filter have been off so many times. :( If I was ever going to have as much experience as 95 GSXracer, I think I'm almost there with intake. From fooling around with my HomeDepot racing intake, and another 3 or 4 times to get the "custom" recirc tube to fit, to installing MBC it came off twice, and UICP once.

On topic, I'm not so much for 'free mods' as just getting real mods cheap. Used parts are fine for me. :)

1stGenRocks: yeah man, that was my old car, a 98 GS. My 'new' one is a 97 GST...looks the same, red with black top, and its stick, with the same miles...talk about coincidence! I kept the rims though, but the roll bar, spoiler and suspension are gone. The hood has a magnetic car bra on it.

Anyway guitarXgeek, yeah, I installed the FIPK at the same time too. I can't beleive how much difference hacking the dump tube made, and the FIPK!! The BOV is 3 times louder and the turbo spools up much quicker. And I did it myself ( quite a feat for a guy who can memorize a technical manual but forget what a spanner looks like, lol).

shumyyal.

(PS I couldnt get the BCS restrictor out...I just left it. I heard some boost spike issues...any comments?>)
