just looking for a little help i have a 91 trooper with bad engine it is the v6 with throttle body. i'm looking to replace the engine. i've heard that these engines are the same as a chevy 2.8? is this true? will a 2.8 out of a chevy pickup work? i've found an 86 s-10 with 2.8 v6, just wondering if this engine will work?
from what i've read it seems like the v-6 engine also has an oil problem, when the engine is over reved (sorry if spelling is wrong), would replacing the oil pump with a high volume pump help solve the problem. thanks for any help or info that can steer me straight

That gm engine went into a bunch of different cars. I suspect the S 10 will work, but I'm not sure of this.
I doubt that the heavy duty oil pump will cure oil pressure loss at high rpms, since at high rpms the regular pump is already pumping like crazy. Don't redline the engine, and if your engine is tired, go to a heavier multigrade (20-50) and hope for the best.

if the case of swapping with gm engines works, then I've been told that the newer 3.8 engine from troopers will swap with better gas... are these the same 3800 series that is in the 98 astros that have plenty of HP and gas milage? if so, I'll gladly fork out the cash for one of those beautiful engines.
any ideas?

I think only the 3.1 and the 3.4 will drop in and bolt up with minimum mods.
