Sounds like a battery would be a good place to start. Remember, the battery gets 'charged' by the alternator. Try jumping the car. If it starts, the battery was dead, but not necessarily bad. I do suspect just a battery, but it could be more. If you jump it, and remove the juper cables, and the car still runs, then the alternator is working, then the battery is bad. If you jump it, remove the jumper cable, and the car dies, then the alternator is bad.
Hope this help.

I'd almost bet its the starter. Check your batt. but if its good its for sure the starter. I have an 88 and there nortorious for this problem. Generally a rebuilt starter (you can't buy a new one) won't help. I heard guys say it high resistantce in the harness to the starter. They say running a new wire to starter with a momentary toggle switch in line is the answer. I can get mine to start by holding the key in the start position for a while and it will start. I've been ban from the auto parts stores for returning rebuilt starters. Anyway its a pain in the ass.
