gas in my oil?

hey i'm checking my oil frequently and i think i may have gas seeping into my oil, you see my problem is the past two times i changed my oil boom instantly black as tar, and i smell oil. do i have bad rings? what do you guys need to know?

sounds to me you have bad rings , you can do a leak-down test and found out just how bad it is

First you need a special set of gauges and these should come with instructions. It actually involves placing each piston at TDC and BDC, pumping in some air, and measuring time for the pressure to decrease. Also check this site out for more info. http://www.longacreracing.com/instructions/inst.asp?INSTID=25 . summit racing also sells the tester or you can get it off a tool truck

you could just do a compression check, althought it wont pinpoint where your losing compression (if you are losing any) It will tell you though if you have a problem that needs attention. Ive found compression gauge kits as cheap as $15. Good thing to have.
