Hey I have a really good one for anyone who wants to try and figure this out. I have a 1994 civic ex 1.6 vtec 5 speed and it's killing the circuit in any computer I put in it but there are no visible shorts and when I put in a dx computer it doesn't burn it up so if anyone has any suggestions let me know.

It depends on how they are being burned. If you are changing them yourself, open it up and look for discoloring on the circuit. Check that the power going into the computer isn't over 14 or under 11 volts.( a tiny bit over 14 should be ok). Either one of those would destroy a computer. If this is the case, maybe the DX computer is different in such a way that it can handle the power.

And a voltage regulator will cause this to happen.

What wire is the main power wire into the computer? and isn't the voltage regulator built into the alternator.

also the strange thing is that it's not burning up the whole computer only the circuit that is run by the red and silver wire and it goes from the plug in into the circuit board and then to a resistor or something but the car runs fine except for the check engine light and burning alot of fuel
