If you study phychology you will realazie that Freud was wrong on just about everything.. A very famous, but wrong, wrong wrong. I suppose that in the old days he had revolutionary ideas, but now with all our knowledge and science we know he was wrong.
Oedipus Complex is so absurd its laughable now a days.

is that the one where the son loves the mother? I think it is very possible. Im not saying ive ever seen it...cuz i havent. But there are a whole bunch of pretty strange things in this world, not to mention strange people, plus, ever heard of incest?im gonna have to say that of course it exists...but whats electra complex? is it like the daughter falls in love with the dad?

yeap,
freud is famous but his ideas are now a little strange for us.
the elektra complex talks about how daughters get in love (ha ha, got a crush!) or like too much their father (in a sexual way) and the Oedipus (or Edipo, in spanish) is the opossite, the son gets hot for his mom.

I dunno, Freud's theory on the subconcious is great stuff. However, the Oedipus complex (or was it crisis?) sounds a little far fetched.

I'm of the opinion that every human being goes through an Oedipus or Electra complex throughout life, and it's completely normal. It only becomes abnormal if it continues after about the age of 12 when puberty starts to hit. Think about it...who is the first person a boy loves? His mother. Ever heard of the saying (from some Barbershop Quartet song) that goes along the line of "I want a girl just like dear ol' mom?" Since the mother is the first person a boy loves, he wants someone who will treat him just like a mother. This only becomes abnormal if the child continues to feel this way about his mother even after the thought of sexual desires and the opposite sex come into play. That's just my take on it.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean the literal sense of loving your mom, but rather, a (straight) guy tries to find a woman "as good as" his mother. And vice versa with a girl and her father, hence mamma's boy and daddy's princess.
If you think aobut your girlfriends, wives, ex's and whatnot, think aobut YOUR parent, for the girls that means their dads, and guys their moms. They're usually actaully kinda similar. For example, barring the stupid slutty bitch part, i;d have to say that my last ex was a good bit like my mom. Short blonde hair, attractive, smart, ya know, someone I thought would "take care of me" so to speak.
