Been having trouble with the electric windows in my van for almost 2 years now. Will go down partway, then not back up, will stay down then eventually go up if your lucky over the next 1/2 hour.
Well I am going to attempt to fix this problem should I start with the switches? $90 for them all at the dealer, and salvage yards around don't have any.
Suggestions??

Had similar problem, I replaced drivers side window lift motor, my passenger side still bad it needs help going up. Will replace motor soon. Web price for motor is $60. I believe this is a common problem.

Thanks Sonnald, I ordered new switches first as this is the easiest thing to replace. If that does not solve the problem I will move onto the motors. The reason I believe it is a switch is that when the windows do work they go up and down unassisted. It does not seem like the motors are "weak".
Thanks for you input.

I have done motors on both sides of our 97. The old motors seem to overheat and shutdown, then work again later. I would skip the switches and go for the motor. $55 at AutoZone w/ lifetime. You have to drill out the old rivets. New motor comes with screws. Takes a couple of hours.

Well, I was inpatient and ordered the switches prior to your reply pringlemr.
I appriciate the input and if the switches do not work I will go on to the motors.
Was Autozone the best $ you found for the motors? I have had really good luck with www.gmpartsdirect.com when it comes to finding stuff.

I recieved the switches that I discussed above and you were correct. The windows still don't work correctly, will have to invest in motors next.
How hard is the motors to change?
