fuel pump whine

There's a whine in my '04 2500HD that's sounds like a fuel pump whine. I've had the dealer check it out and they said everything checked out OK and they drove another new one off the lot and it made the same noise. Anybody else have a problem with this? I'm not very satisfied with the "just deal with it - they all do it" answer.

some pumps do make more noise than others with no apparent problem. if the whine doesn't change with rpm, then it probably is the fuel pump. you should be able to get close, under or whatever and listen at the tank to make sure it is the pump. the only thing you can do is drive it and maybe it will go out before warranty is up.
after reading this board for a month, I'd probably still get a new chevy pickup, but I would get the 100,000 mile warranty for sure. something is wrong down at the plant....

Same old problem with Chevrolet fuel pumps...They are known to fail and do make the noise that you are hearing..

My truck has a wine, but it only does it when I first start it up, and only first thing in the morning. It will do it about 2 or three times and then stop. I thought it was something to do with the abs or something.

The pitch does vary slightly with acceleration, so I think it is a noisy fuel pump. I was hoping someone would post a tsb for it or something, but I guess I'm out of luck. I just hope it doesn't go out when I'm in the middle of nowhere towing my boat. :nono:
