Shifter Knob

I know this may seem like a stupid quetion, but im going to ask it because it is bothering me so much. My friend got me a new shifter knob and i cant get the stock one off my 2004 mini cooper s. I know it does not screw off so how do i get it off? Any help would be great.

all you have to do is pull really hard, thats all it takes. Just one thing, don't hit yourself in the face when doing so, it's happened to me and its not at all fun.

Simply straddle the gear box and shifter, placing one leg on the passenger side and the other on the driver side. You can open the sunroof for a little more room. Grab the knob with your hands and apply force directly upward using your legs for power. You have to apply a fair amount of force, but the knob will simply pop off....make sure you pull straight up as possible.
