well i have a 88 camry v4, but found a v6 at a pretty good price. could i switch engines whichout much hassle? or would i need to buy new mounts and all that stuff?? and ballpark, what would it cost?

If you switch the engine, you will have to switch the tranny and the drive axles, as they are different between the I4 (not V4) and the V6.

Both engines are from different series (S series vs. VZ series), so the drivetrains are different as well.

Also, you will have to switch out the wiring harnesses and ECUs as well.

You would fare better getting yourself a used 3S-FE to replace the one you have if you're looking for a simple solution.

Don't recall the web addresses but, you might want to look into these websites that sell used engines from Japan. Apparrantly, Japan forces you to change engines after so many miles - I think it's 50K. Are you taking a chance? Yup. Just food for thought. RIP
