Does anyone know of any problems with the 2004 Evo 8? I'm thinking about buying one, and I want to know if there's anything wrong with it. I'm probably going to buy one anyway, but just for my info. Thanks.

The clutch will not handle too much abuse. Slipping the clutch too much on daily drives will shorten its life, as will repeated 5000 rpm hard launches. The EVO 8 is not design as a drag racer.

IMHO, in terms of daily use, the EVO’s gas mileage is not good for a 4 banger. (I’m getting 18 mpg combined) It's tuned to run pretty rich (safe). However, I don't think people buy EVO's for the gas mileage.
The steering is quick to the point of being nervous. This can be tiring for a daily driver for some people.
The stiff suspension is pretty hard on your kidneys on freeway expansion joints at 10-30 mph. A little like a slammed sub-compact with stiff springs.
However, driven hard, the EVO is awesome. In terms of brakes and handling, EVO’s are nearly track ready. With just $2K worth of add-on’s to a stock EVO 8, I can’t think of anything under $40K will touch it on the track.
