94 Eldorado oil leak

I have a chance to buy an 94 Eldorado with 134k miles, it is my mother-inlaws car. It has an oil leak that she said the dealer told her that the pan had to be removed to fix, it also has a bad drivers side window motor, broken rear tail light lens. It has the northstar engine, and is in very good condition, very clean and loaded. Price $1200.00.
I've been reading about oil leaks on these engines and it looks like it could be a bigger problem than a pan gasket. Any one have any advise on this car? Is it worth buying for $1200? It runs great just leaks oil. If the engine needs replacing could I sell the car for parts and get my money back? It has those crome factory alloy wheels that must be worth $1000.

The Northstar engine can have oil leaks in a couple of places. The oil pan is one and another is the block halves. They also may leak from the bolt threads on the block halves. There is a bulletin out to apply sealer on the bolts. Fixes some but not many. If pan is leaking the transaxle has got to come out to replace gasket, if block halves are leaking the engine has to come out.

I'll be getting the car on Wed the 17th I figure for the price I can't go wrong. It also needs a window motor on the drivers side, a new head light and tail light lens, nothing else wrong.

Ok I picked up the car, it seems to run real good. The only thing that gives me a little concern is that the water temp display runs about 205-208 on the hwy and went up to 215-217 in town, engine still running good, no missing or power loss. Can any one tell me the check engine code trick with the heater controls? I would like to check and see if there is any codes. The other thing is can someone also tell me how to clear the engine oil needs to be changed in the display when I start the car?
The car looks great, needs a new headlight lens, a tail light lens and window motor and a good bath.
