Yes. Your problem is that the factory dose not do it right the first time. Being that I have a GT, it should already have the best exhaust, including headers, QOHC (Quad Over Head Cam)(that's my term for Twin Dual Overhead Cam, TDC I beleive is what GM calls it), supercharger, etc. etc.

If you don't have a book, try going to your local car stereo dealer, (not Wal-Mart) someone who dose it for a living. They may be able to tell you. My car has a cd and cassette. Now the new ones have an MP3 CD player.(stock) Any one want to trade me for my stereo for the new MP3 player? LOL

What, what, what???? you have a GT but its a 4 cylinder? they never made a 99+ GT with a 2.4l quad. Im completely lost by your post.

The QOHC was a joke. Quad = 4 , break it down = 2 cams per head, V6 has 2 heads. I'm saying, my GT should have twin cams per head. Therefor Quad = 4 cams per V6 engine.

I read on another forum post that it was a Twin Dual Cam (TDC). I don't remember where it was, but that's where I got that from. I did not make it up. It was some guy with A.S.E. certificate as his avitar. Said he worked for GM. But on www.60degreev6.com it shows the 3.4 with DOHC. So, is that one cam per head, or two per head?

take out the key start surround , then put the key in the on position with car e brake on put the shifter in 2 or 1. the pull the edge from above till it loosens and put car back in park then remove the key and pull it forward more so that all the snaps are out then go behind the face and put the key in on position and put car in 2 or one again and simply get the face out the way. Phillips screws are all that hold the cd player in. does that help?

I didn't make it up. I read it on onother string. And, my mistake, it wasn't the A.S.E. person, it was achievasc92.
OK.... the 3600 is not in any Grand Am past present or future, there is no 3400 DOHC, but there "WAS" a 3.4 TDC (twin dual cam) available in W-bodies for a few years. 215 sounds about right for the hp ratings.
I just assumed he knew what he was talking about. So go dog him, not me. I was just trying to make a point that a GT should already have all performance upgrades. Sorry for ruffling you feathers. I'm not perfect like you.
BTW, the quote obove from achievesc92 was on a string you had replies on, so why didn't you point it out then?

The 3.4 available in GAs is the 3400 v6 it is an OHV designed engine with only one camshaft.
The 3.4 TDC is a 6 cylinder that was available in early 90s W-bodies (GP,Monte, something else) never available in GAs.
:)

I like DOHC. I wish my GAGT had one. Then I wouldn't have to work my way up from 175 hp, but I could then start with 215 hp and work my way up. Do you know why GM didn't put one in my car? Do they still make the 3.4 TDC? I like the 3.6 @ www.60degreev6.com . That would really be sweet to start with.
Well, so far, urweak hasn't had a responce. Did he stick his foot in his mouth?

They don't make the the 3.4 TDC anymore, they stopped in 96 or 97. It was an interesting motor but a pain in the ass to work on, to replace the spark plugs, you had to toake off the upper intake manifold I believe, It also had a timing belt instead of a chain unlike most other GM engines, Belts break more often than chains, so when a timing belt breaks the valves usually end up hitting the pistons and killing the heads. It was a high maintanence engine but very reliable if you took care of it.

the dohc 3.4 was a nightmare for tecs to work on , people werent up to par with maintenance. It had lots of jam but is not as reliable as the new 12valve 3400 , the new 3400 is capable of some good hp and can be driven hard all day long. I drove mine 1500 kms in a day and a half and i drove hard the whole time. I got over 130,000 miles on this engine and alls it knows is go go go! Plus it runs better than the day i bought it. All i do for maintenance is clean (top to bottom) the engine and tranny , oil changes every 2000 miles , engine still doesnt burn oil , Still has original tranny fluid , never been serviced other than to check fluid levels(no tranny dipstick) , its a good car as far as im concerned , easy as hell to maintain.

it wasnt that hard to change the plugs on the dohc either , you just loosen a couple of engine mount bolts when the car is lifted in the front and lower it onto a block of wood so it tilts forward and whallah the plugs are in view.
