noise at high RPM

whenever i hit about 3000+ RPM, i can hear a faint whine inside of the car that gradually gets louder. is this normal? it didn't just start to happen, its been doing it as long as i've had the car, just wanted to see if something was wrong. i can't really hear it at really high RPMs (5000+), probably because of the engine noise drowning it out.

Is there any kind CAI or modding the intake system...?

i do have a short ram intake, but the sound was happening before i got the short ram. my intake doesn't really make much noise.

What type of tranny does it have? auto or manual? does it make the noise in a certain gear or in any gear just at 3000 rpms?

it has the factory manual transmission, i can hear it in all the gears, but its louder in first and second.

if its what i think it is, its prefectly normal. both my honda's do it.
