transmission dead?

I finally got my truck running after sitting for about 5 years and when I put it in drive it will not move....i don't even feel the trans kick in....when I press on the gas and rev it up in drive the engine acts like I never put it in drive.....no reverse, 4x4, or lower gears either....it's possible that the brakes are locked up but I would feel that....could it be linkages? does an automatic transmission have straight linkages or is the shifter just an electronic control? 22R EFI 4x4 automatic trans
