Hey all,
New to these forums and new to the honda scene and I have 18'' Enkei Racing Rims and a AEM Intake system, but of course my next thing is my ECU Chip which im installing tonight and I need my muffler now, maybe its just me but I like my loud mufflers and ones that sound good not that R/C Car sound so any of you got any sugg. on the loudest mufflers out there? Thnx

You looking for the fastest way to get a ticket, or just to "sound cool" when you get pulled over for it? Seriously, what's the point to having the loudest exhaust around? I can guarantee you that it won't get you the most power gains. Once you get pulled over and harassed by ewnough cops, you'll regret ever getting it.
Some GOOD SOUNDING but not loud systems I'd recommend is the GReddy EVO, Thermal R&D, A'PEXi World Sport, or anything from RS*R, particularly the EX Mag and the GT2 systems. A'PEXi N1 is not bad, but it is on the loud side. One of my buddies just got rolled here in So. Cali last week for the Blitz Nür Spec system he has on his '91 240SX. It's kick ass system, but kinda loud. But it shows that even medium volume systems will still get you pulled over was the point of that. Most of the loudest systems out there tend to typically sound like straight crap when above 5k RPMs. Something to keep in mind.

Thanks for the info bro yeah, I was told if I wanted the loudest to get a Supertrapp which are like megaphone mufflers but im not that stupid to get something that hits 140dbs. I hear about that Apexi one and ur right I forgot to put that in there I want power and good sound. But thanks for your info

Yes Supertrapp for mega sound, minus the 10 bazillion discs, LOL! I think for you personally, the A'PEXi N1 might be your best bet. Loud, but good!

i got a Tenzo R Venturi exhaust and i f'in love it! it sounds great when idling and it is loud really only thru 2nd gear and quiets down and is sort of throaty from 3rd on. NO COFFEE CAN EXHAUST HERE. it was a good choice by me and im very pleased with the performance too.

lol...I say just screw it all, fuck the header, cat and exhaust. too much restriction.
Anyhow, I like the Apex WS, Greddy EVO, Thermal R&D and the RS*R Ex Mag. Just like SilverY2KCivic said.

Couldn't have said it better myself. i'd recommend the a'pexi world sport. my buddy has that, and it sounds really nice. :2cents:

That's the exhaust system I have on as well, A'PEXi WS. Couldn;'t be any more pleased with it.
Heya: I'd go the GReddy EVO over the Skunk2. It sounds great, looks better and more like it belongs, and it's probably cheaper $$$ wise too.

I dont get it wtf does ur cat converter do then... everyone says take it off and just run the muffler..point is I dont really got a whole lotta funds but Like should I get the whole catback system or just the weld on muffler... :screwy:

cat converter more or less cleans up your exhaust gases before they are let out into the atmosphere. people say to take it off because it is probably the most restrictive part of your exhaust. but if you take it off you won't be smog legal. if you're tight on funds, buy a weld on muffler and have an exhaust shop bend the rest of the piping from the cat back and you'll have a complete custom catback at a fraction of the cost of a prefab catback exhaust.

so I can take of the cat converter and get away with it htough right and in doing that I should get some more power?

If you remove your cat, then you'll have to fill in the gap space with a straight or test pipe. Otherwise just keep it on. No real need to remove it unless you really need to. You won't pass a smog check without a cat-converter, and you'll have your check engine light on 24/7 if you remove it as well, sine your O2 sensors rely on the cat to get their correct readings.

i guess this post might be a bit old, but i really didnt get a str8 answer when i was reading the forum. my question when i first searched and found this post was.....which exhaust system should i get?....i've been looking at cat-back exhaust and they seem to range from really low prices to somewhat high (349 - MAGNA FLOW to 795 - JIC MAGIC) and i will have to install it myself....which i have no problem with. I came into this post trying to get peoples opinion on which cat-back would be the best without really spending much...i know its impossible, but why not try. Also, i notice that they also sell high-flow cats....i assume i will need one if im changing my exhaust since what good will it do if i have the OEM cat on. hope someone can help. oh yeah, i have a 2000 civic ex incase anyone wanted to know.

Go with Apex'i WS, sounds good to me, but as usual you won't get any gains with it unless you're pumping out some high numbers. At least some sort of forced induction will be needed to see some gains worth while.

in FL you wouldnt have a problem removing your cat since we dont have inspection here :naughty: :evillol:

If forced induction, go with the Apexi N1 over the WS. Turbo's really quiet the exhaust down alot. Then again I like quiet exhaust that's why I'm keeping my WS on even though I'm losing probably 30hp because of it.
Probably just do a cutout for the track, haven't descided on it yet though. Anyone know where to find a reasonably priced 2 1/2" remote cutout. Really hate to jack the car up so I can get under to unbolt the cutout.
