I just purchased an injen cold air intake for my 03 eclipse. while looking through the instructions, I noticed that it didnt say anything about a by-pass valve. Does anyone know if these intake systems require them. I have looked on the internet but havnt been able to locate a by-pass valve for the intake. If I need one, does anybody have a site on where I can find a valve?

injen doesnt make a bypass valve for their intakes...some people have gotten the AEM bypass valve and used it....here is the link to how to do it.. use at your own risk

what is the purpose of the air bypass valve? and is it entirely significant?

The bypass valve allows the entry of air instead of water in a snorkle situation. It remains closed unless the car begins to suck water in which case the air is then sucked in through the bypass valve instead of allowing the water to be injested by the motor, which is very bad.
Forgot the second ?.
This is only really needed if you plan on fording roads that are full of water and what not. If you think you might be driving through high water, take the time to take the CAI of and just us the short ram part.

Thanks Jones! I may switch over from looking @ Injen Race Division intakes, and look @ AEM, there website actually shows the bypass valves right in an accessories list, whereas with the injen, it would have been a mystery to me. Thank you again!
