About 6 mos ago I lost my fuel pump at 150k miles. Had it replaced.
Ran good for about 2 mos until the van died on the road and wouldn't start, fuel problem again.
This time the pump was fine and apparently it was a fuel module control unit of some sort (cost $220 for the part) and it was running again.
About a month later the new fuel pump expires about a mile from home. Got it warrantied and a new (different brand) one put in.
Now the new fuel pump, over the past 6 wks or so, has gone from dead quiet to sounding like a jet engine, can hear it at 70 on the highway, quite loud indeed. I think it's going to die again...
The first new pump was always very loud.
I get the check engine light about once a week or so, codes are 12, 32, 55.
A few months back it was giving me 23, 42, 55
So my question obviously is, what the heck is killing these pumps? I think the small garage across the street who has done the work must be stumped.
Thanks for any help!!

Is the fuel filter ok? If it's plugged up the fuel pump has to work extra hard to push fuel through it!

Thanks for the reply
Don't think it was the filter as I replaced that about 3 weeks ago, didn't stop the last pump from dying.
Yep, it died. Just got home.... 4 tows in 6 months...
The shop across the street told me today that they'd credit me for the latest pump and we could get a chrysler pump to see if that does any better... unless someone knows of something else to check.
sigh.

Looks like we're going to change out the tank as the current thought is that rust in the tank is killing them...
He's getting a new tank for $150 which seems good to me.
I'll post back if anything interesting happens.
