i need a bolt on turbo for r33 gtst, which can produce about 400-500hp.
anyone has any idea about which one i should get??
by the way, my friend told me about the sudden accellaration with the AVC-R. can give you a NOS feel.
what do you guy say about it??

Bolt on Turbo setup for that horse power is actually turbo + Bigger injectors + Fuel pump + Intercooler etc. A T3/T4 will do it.
$2500 to $3500 is the going rate. unique autosports advertised a kit I think $3K. goto the web site www.uniqueautosports.com.au
Nitrous oxide kit will cost a third of the price. get you to 400-450HP when you need it.
AVCR is a cool gadget. Does not give a Nitrous feel (does not add horsepower) , will bring boost on harder though.
Once again, stuff paying for the AVCR buy Nitrous and leave your mate way behind in the rear vision mirror muttering "..but it feels like nitrous":D

Any electronic boost control has the ability to deliver more horsepower simply by raising the boost....most will help in delivering the boost slightly earlier as well.

Yep, if you don't have a boost increasing control it will add HP, beyond that it assists in boost characteristics.
The stock turbos have a limit to the boost they can take safely, the AVCR has arguably no effect on increasing this limit, and therefore peak power output, given you increase the boost another way.
It's worth considering as a drivabillity and reliabillity option over a manual bleed system.
However, if power and acceleration was the goal I would put it behind the purchase of a light steel flywheel. The wieght saving of 4 or 5 kilos over the cast iron unit will free up 20HP and allow the motor to build boost faster (revs quicker). They flog them for $400 or so and they are tuffer than stock. Oh, and they will give you an improvement in fuel ecconomy so you can save up faster to buy the AVCR.

thanks for the reply
$400 lighten flywheel sounds pretty good to me especially with the 20hp increase. i think i will do it in a couple of weeks or so.
well i have the money for a avc-r which means if i do a flywheel i still have at least $600 left. so what else do you suggest i can do, that can bring the similar amount power increase with 600 bux???

Well,
there are a few cheap mods to bring up efficency, does depend on what you have done already but, here are a few.
Cheap stuff includes :
Getting foam steam pipe insulation for the intake pipes. $20 or so a length. Shields from engine bay heat and lowers intake charge temp.
Fitting a 3' Stainless dump pipe and ceramic coating it. Loads of heat removed from the engine bay and increased gas velocity out 'o' turbo. $350-$500.
Manual bleed boost controller setup, Autospeed has an article on its website about building one. $50 - $150.
How old's the catalytic, if it's done 70k it's time to replace, or drill a hole through the middle of it and weld a 3' stainless pipe inside.
http://www.autospeed.com/A_0685/page4.html - for bleed setup.
Or just save a few dollars more while enjoying the new flywheel and sniff some gas for $1000 or so.
What have you done to the car so far?

when i bought the car
it come with a nismo muffler
and i installed a 600x300x75 front mount intercooler and go fast bit blow off valve and a air filter
that's about it

Oh sorry should have used my eyes.:D
The Air filter needs a cold air box if it aint got one.
Are you already running higher boost than stock? I assume you are due to the intercooler. If you aren't running higher boost ,this might sound strange but, you make a little less horsepower due to pressure drops around the longer pipes. Of course you don't lose as much horsepower on prolonged or frequent boosting as the 'stockie' and at higher boost levels the extra flow is needed.
Do you have any problems with the blow off valve (some times hard to start, misses/farts and carries on under acceleration)
I don't think they are worth the hassle on the stock ECU, I believe even the one that vent back into the intake don't offer much over stock.

well
after the intercooler installed
i feel some power increase
well the bov works ok since the spring has been changed to a stronger one
i have heard about some pressure drop thing
but i really felt that the car can run faster and harder
the rpm raise quicker than before
my friend said so too
well
it's seems that i need a boost controller next......

The intercooler's a good thing to have anyway, when you start increasing boost it will show more gains.
I can assure you that unless you have more boost you make less power with a large front mount (unless it's always 40 dergrees outside) but, at least you can look forward to increasing boost on it and it's a large purchase out of the way.
It almost always 'feels' like the car is going faster when ever we change something so the best thing to do is to test as objectively as possible. Put it on the same Dyno or time it over a distance before and after the mod.
With a boost controller in and a light flywheel the thing WILL go alot harder:D

what about a heavy duty clutch
does it do much??
does it do much??
rev210

It just holds the transfer power from flywheel to gear box.
No power gain with a heavy duty, worth putting one in if your old clutch is slipping or badly worn if you anticipate 400HP or so some day.
Otherwise wait till this clutch wears out first.
