98 Camry XE, I4, reverse lights not working

During the Firestone courtesy inspection, they found both reverse lights were not working. Cheap me, trying to save $40 diagnostic check, pulled the bulbs and ther're working. I couldn't find the relay (what they suggested could be the problem), but if I did how do check it (or chuck it for a new relay- and where is it located?). Everything else works fine. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Hmmm, maybe the reverse switch on the transmission, or more likely a broken wire in the trunk harness, left side near the hinge. I posted some more details info in a more recent post. Check it out.
