What do you mean jerk? Is there a clunking noise? Does the o/d light flash or anything? Are the shifts hard or are they normal? Are the shift points normal? Does your speedometer read normal speeds?

I have a 2001 f-150 super crew and it does the same thing, like when i slow down to around 25mph and then mash the gas, feels like it clicks the gear in real hard, and the ford place sd it is considered a hard shift from 2nd to third, and i think tht is nt right. I think tht is a problem. have you found out anything since posting your question

does the truck make any noises when shifting from drive to reverse without the brakes on? Coast foreward a little bit and then put it in reverse and then put it in drive again, does it clunk then?

I have not noticed that any, it just kinda makes a hard clunk into the next gear, when i slow down to make a turn onto a road, and then give it gas.seems like it is trying to find the gear or just slipp into it hard. I wil try your suggestion and let you knw if it clunks from reverse to drive.. i think it does just jerks hard whn i do tht.The dealer sd it is the limited slip on the transmission but i hve never had a trnsmission do this.. this is the first ford i have owned.. Just fyi 2001 screw, 5.4 4x4, xlt, with cab shell .. if you have any s

A friend of mine had this problem. He ended up with a new rebuilt auto-transmission

limited slip is in the rear differential, not in the tranny, some ford shop.
