3.1 ignition timing.

Hey all, I just found this forum and I hope to make some new pals and learn alot more than I know. I have a question regarding a buddy's car.
He has a 91 Camaro w/3.1 V6 that needs to have the ignition timing set. I need to know how many degrees before TDC this needs. I am aware that you must unhook the tan/black wire in order to do this correctly for the electronic advance I just need the degrees. Someone told him 10 was where it needed to be but that sounds a bit high. I was thinking more along the lines of 6-8 BTDC. I have a degree in Automotive and through my xp thats a little high. BUT, I have been out of the business for a while and only do odd and end repairs in my garage. Any help would be wonderful. Thanx in advance.

0 degrees timing, unhook the timing connector you were talking about, and set it to 0 degrees. the computer will adjust it from there to whatever timing you actually need.

I know that my 2.8 is supposed to be set at 10*. I'm pretty sure that the 3.1 is supposed to be set to 10* too.

could be wrong, i am more used to V8s. i just assumed they were all the same, but then again, we all know what assumtions are....
