Yea I got in a race with one when I first got my car, they're pretty fast, he had me right off the line but I kept up with him after that.

Wrong.
You do know that Ford Escort ZX2's were high 15-second cars stock, right? As opposed to your Mustang V6 auto, which is a low 16-second car. Well...maybe high-15's too. Maybe.

Tiburons run a 15.6 in the 1/4.
As for the ZX2...A big improvement occured in 1998
1997 ZX2: 0-60 = 8.3, 1/4 = 16.3
1998 ZX2: 0-60 = 7.4, 1/4 = 15.7

Nah. They just had more optimal driver and/or conditions for the second test. Nothing was changed through those two years on that car, mechanics-wise.
A good example is my car, a 1992 Sentra SE-R. 1992's were tested, and rated at 16.1 in 1992. Then in 1993, they suddenly started driving the car to 15.6-15.8 quarter-mile times...yet, my personal, 1992 car has run a best of 15-flat with a generic cone filter, and advanced timing as my only "mods"...well, I guess there's the "driver mod" too. :D

Thanks, most people don't give the zx2 enough credit, I can get a run of 15.9 this past summer at the track. As for the wing having to much drag, well it's a big help when taking corners, i like auto cross slightly more then drag, plus at high speed the hydraulics tilt it back for less drag.

Sorry dude but there is no way that you are going fast enough on an Auto x course to get any help from that spoiler. I can not even believe that you said that. :shakehead And also at higher speeds if it tilts back on it's own then it is not providing any downforce or very little. It would need to be fixed to transfer the force that is being put on it. Also you are still getting drag from it b/c if it is being held back in a position then there is a drag from the wind holding in that position, it might not be alot but it is still some and you are not benifiting any from that thing.:disappoin

As for the thread. I've raced 1st gen and 2nd gen Tibs. I walked away from them both without much of a problem.

alright, I'm sick of explaining myself. Ever since I put it on people been askin the same questions. I like it (my personal preference, not that of anybody elses), everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I think you will all agree with me when I say that everybody has there own style and what they do with their car is entirely up to them. I personally am trying to do a mix of style (style is in the eye of the beholder) and performance. Some of you might say, that's not style or performance, but that's your opinion and you are entitled to that.

Well, then you should have said that in the first place rather than say you installed it to improve downforce for auto-x.

All I'm saying is the angle of attack is way too steep for the surface of the wing to work right. It's just drag. With a less extreme angle there would be less drag and MORE downforce.
If you like the wing, have fun wingin yourself around, it's your car. This is just advice on how to make it actually somewhat functional instead of a hinderance.

just clarify on that particular wing when the force of the wind against it reaches a certain point it tilts the wing up?.. now is this practical for ANY application.. im generally curious because ive never heard of a wing like that being used...

I've been thinking if I shaved maybe a 1 or 2 cm of the back legs it would help a little, the only problem is that I would have to cut and weld both legs so they are perfectly equal length, if it's off by a little, it's going to screw up the entire ride of my car.

The faster you go, the more the wing tilts down.

You may like it and I have no problem with it, personaly I don't like it but that was not the case, I said nothing about my opinon on the wing. What I did state was that you don't know what you are talking about. I call it the ricer complex, people think that anything found on a race car will improve their street car. I am sick and tired of seeing people post about how much things like your wing improved the performance of thier car, when I know that it did not. The fact is that I wanted to correct the mis-information before somebody that does not know better reads it and thinks that they need to go out and buy one and it will improve the performance of thier car, when in reality it will do nothing for them and the money will be wasted and chances are they will be laughed at if they go to any auto x or drag races. Thats my :2cents:

Another wing on a front wheel drive car...
Tiburons are the best car to ever some out of Korea, but that means absolutely nothing. Never actually ridden in one, I just know there not to fast, and dont handle well. A much better $23,000 is a SRT-4 or a RSX-S.

one came up behind me one night to see if i was a twin turbo 300zx. once he found out that i wasnt he came up beside me and looked over at me and held up his hand and said we would go on 3. We were probably going 50 mph, once the 3 count came i just left him......i beat him by about 5 car lengths before i slowed down.

My friend has an '04 Tiburon Tuscani and I'm sorry to say that it was a waste of his 30ish thousand dollars (CDN). It is not very fast in the straights, it doesnt handle well at all and it has a generally cheap feel to it. He is very dissapointed in it and is already consdidering selling it off while its still fairly new to cut his losses.
I dont know how a '99 gt compares to the '04 Tuscani but I doubt they have gotten worse instead of better.

Ive heard that all Korean cars handle and drive like five year old Japanese ones. Never raced one, teh only person I know who has one doesn't race. Also, its always been my opinion that a FWD car (until, of course, you get to the pro tunner level, or things like JGTC) doesn't go fast enough or accelerate hard enough to even require downforce inducing wings...
