Ok, sounds like the emp sending unit to me. Does he have a mechanical gauge he can hook up to it? If the sending unit is bad, then the computer thinks the engine is hot when it isn't and switches from open loop to closed loop mode, now using the O2 sensors, and then leans out and dies. Thats one possibility. There is another possibility that it is a sensor or something getting ready to die, but i think the only one which would cause this is is either the MAP sensor or the IAC sensor, but that is a long shot that it would quit working right when the engine is hot. I would say the temp sending unit. By the fordtrucks.com has a nice bronco section and pickup section. Tell em that 78fordman sent ya.

There is several things it could be. Dose it have a check engine light on? Did you take the module to get it tested? It can air lock in the fuel system(bleed it at the shrader valve). It may be the pickup in the dist.

he already replaced the pickup. But in order for it to die when it is warm, there are only a couple things. Temp sending unit, iac control, possibly low fuel pressure, but thats stretching it.
