91 2.1dohc on 93 2.3 block

hi everybody im new to this so please bear with me. i recently purchase a 1993 prelude with the 2.3dohc with a bad head. i was on e-bay an purchased what i thought to be the right head but in the excitment i was wrong. it is a 2.1dohc h23. the head thats on my vechicle is a h23a. i have not received the head yet but its on the way. i looked at the pictures of the head an the on difference i see is really the thermostat housing. i need help thanks

It's not an h23 head then. The '23' in h23 represents its displacement.

91 2.1 dohc was a B series non vtec motor. The 93 h23 was a non vtec dohc. The I know those 2 motors share the same rods. But I really don't think the head will work. If you had a 88-91 b20a5 or b21a1 I feel it would work fine.They were the 3rd gen prelude Si motors. Maybe some others can help you out more on here, sorry for the bad news. I guess you can take the h23 head gasket and lay it on the b series head and probably see a huge difference.Sorry about your luck i hope it gets better.

yeah, if you've got a sohc, you've got the f22b.
same as the accord motor...
there's no dohc head that will bolt on, and the b20 stuff definitely won't...
