Alright i have a 97 formula and i just put in a custom ram air setup that my friend and i made. We took off the stock air box and ran that tube that you use for a dryer, its kinda like a slinky, down to where the fog lights would go, but its a tight squeeze. I need some ideas of some other material to use that is bendable and durable because the first time i took it out to test drive it the material ripped. Thanks

I wonder where you are putting ur air filter? If you go riding around with out one, even worse when air comes from under the car!, it can do a bad number to the engine. But a good type of material to use would be the flex that is used in heating and air. It usual comes in 6" and 8" but you can buy it in 4", which is what you need, but is harder to come by. it is durable and flexable either silver or black plastic with slinkey like metal wire wraped around it. It is covered by insulation but you can pull it off. You can get it at a HVAC supply place like nolands or somewhere.

Well we actually we made a filter and stuck it between where the intake pipe and the dryer duct pipe connect, but before the duct piping ripped you could put your hand in the fog light slot and feel the air sucking in its pretty sweet. Do you think it will give me a little extra horsepower?

Ok well i just used the same material and duct taped it all up so it wont rip and its working just fine im going to take it out tomorrow and use my G tech on it to see if there is a difference their better be. There is definetly a difference in temperature becuase my intake, and throttle body are like ice cold even after i race around for a while

Ram Air setups should give you a boost . I seem to remember if you took out the headlight in front of the air box you picked up 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile (stock).
I'm afraid to ask..You made an air filter ?!?

well its actually a filter for a house but we cut it to fit a little bit bigger then the circle for the mass air sensor and put it right in front of it. its actually pretty nice looking and if you put your hand down where the fog light is you can feel the air sucking. the only hard thing was cutting away the white fire resistant stuff that the front of the car is lined with it took about 2 and a half hours to cut it away enought to get the pipe to fit next to it.

It's nice to see someone actually taking the time to make some thing to make his car faster rather than going to the speed shop with mommies charge card ! (and then to a shop w/ the CC# to put the part on....)
