Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to find 78-90 repro parts  I just bought an 85 and can't seem to find any place to find new repro parts :banghead: Thanks :icon16:

What kind of parts are you looking for?
I have a '85 caprice classic and never had trouble finding parts for anything.

Well for one the bumpers are rusted bad. And the outside mirror won't adjust from the inside. Thanks for responding.

Have you tried looking in salvage yards for the pieces that you need? I'm sure something out there has nice bumpers on it. The wire inside of your door is probably broken...that part I'm sure you can find in there.

I checked car-parts.com and the closest bumper in my area is for a Pontiac Parisienne. Are those interchangeable? I figured I'd have to go to a yard to get the cable for the mirror, but will they sell me just the cable?

I don't see why a parisienne bumper wouldn't fit. They are just about the same car save for the front grill and rear lights. It would depend what year Pontiac that it is. If it is a '85, it should fit, right down to the signals.
You don't have any junk yards where you are?

Does yours look like this?

That's pretty much what it looks like. Except mine is white, and has wire hub caps. It also has the bumper gaurds on either side of the license plate and a rusted out set of fog lights :D It's my mother in law's but she can no longer drive, so I'm going to buy it off of her. Actually was originally purcharsed by Darrell Waltrip for his parents.
We have three junkyards in town, but I don't have much time to go looking due to my work schedule. I can get a pretty good Idea on car-parts.com of what they have. Two out of three of them are registered there.

Well, it should be a good reliable car for you. I've had a few of these cars, and ya just can't kill 'em.
And if you do manage to kill it, parts are usually readily available, and just about anything will work to fix it. I had a '83 caprice with parts from a cadillac, chevy truck, chevette alternator, pontiac, chevy van. That's what I love about chevy's; parts interchangability:)

My parents had a 79 Caprice Station Wagon, green on green. Man I hated that car, but it would never die. Had 300,000 miles on it when they sold it in 92. I still see it running around town every now and again. :smokin: I figure it's my turn to have a car my kids will hate :icon16:

I'm 25 now, and have had Caprices since I got my license. Also a Lemans wagon, and a full size gmc. I guess I'm a bit of a big car nut:)
By the way, the wire is attached inside the mirror, it'd be easier to just change the whole thing. A clip and 2 bolts.

I'm 29 and have only had two different vehicles in my life, this will be my third. Guess you can say I get attached to them. My first ride was a 79 Malibu, man I wish I still had that car. Second vehicle is my S-10 I have now. It's kind of hard to haul the kids around in my truck. I'm getting the Caprice to haul them and go to work in, and keeping the truck for Haulin, huntin and fishin :D
