im confused

what is the difference between an mitsubishi eclipse, and a mitsubishi eclipse gts, and mitsubishi eclipse gsx?

They are all Mitsubishi Eclipse.
90-94 produced RS, GS, GST, GSX (1g), DSM
95-99 produced RS, GS, GST, GSX (2g), considered DSM
00+ produces RS, GS, GT, GTS (3g), not a DSM

what does DSM mean, and variable induction? and what would be the best one for racing, GST because more power, upgraded base, and variable induction?

DSM means Diamond Star Motors, its the name they came up with when Mitsubishi and Chrysler merged... Mitsubishi = Diamond (sign) and Chrysler = Star (sign)

and the best one for race would be a GSX because of the AWD and the turbo for the forced induction!

By the way, 1g stands for first generation, 2g stands for second generation (in reference to the body styles and standards that changed significantly). Sorry if you already knew this, just trying to be helpful :)

You can find out what variable induction is by using the internet properly. In short, MVIC alternates intake flow paths between short and long runners.

so a gsx would be the fastest one? and if i replaced the turbo with an aftermarket turbo that would make it even faster right? and then what else could i do to it to make it faster?

and does anyone have a site i could go to to read up on variable induction?

oh and one more question...what would be faster, a 99 eclipse turbo with an aftermarket turbo, or a 99 eclipse and just add aftermarket parts and a supercharger? I am just tryin to find a fast car that i could make even faster.

i keep seein different things lookin around on the internet, and i was wondering what the last year was on an eclipse with the taillights goin across the back? like all the way across. was the 98 model the last year?

99 was the last year for the taillights all the way across the back after that they started makin the 3g model.
And my advice is that if you are gonna put a bigger turbo on anyways you might as well get a gs on an rs and save some money but i don't know what you can do with them. I would talk tto eclipserstcuz i think he might have done that not sure but worth askin

GSX/GST is going to be the fastest stock, and you do not want to buy an RS/GS if you are going to turbo it. You will not save money.

I am not very interested in answering these kind of questions, when the information is VERY WELL KNOWN.
