hello. i am still new to this whole car thing, as anyone who's read my post will know. well after reading and posting and reading again i have found alot of info for this car. i was personally looking for an '88 crx hf and am still looking. my first thought was what a puny engine at first and what a puny car. i would soon be proven wrong thought. after looking deeper i found this car is a wonder. it's light and has a large engine bay for its size, two good things i might point out. any ways back to my main reason for this thread. i am 14 and as such have become a lover of cars and anything fast. i have researched and have made a list of engines that i think are good choices for when i decided to start making my dream car. they are as follows:
d16a8/9-137hp@6800,108trq@4500(9.5:1 compresion)
~i chose this because it is a d-series and as such will drop right in. this is good for me so that i can learn and progress in engine swapping and fixing. i will also want this for when i am 16 and in school for something faster than stock, yet good on gas and reliability.
b18c5-195hp@8000,130trq@7500(10.2:1)
~i chose this as my next because it is more powerful adn it will help when begin on my next motor. i have of some bad thing about this motor , but nothing substantual or enough to turn me away.
crvtec-?hp?,?trq?(?)
~i chose this becuase of what i have heard of the torque and low compression for massive power. i have heard many people with good arguments from both side and have decided for myself to go with it. i will probably build the engine during some good time off since i want it done right and want to test it before i take it anywhere too far from home.
well there it is the list of a 14 year old boy with big dreams and high hopes. please if you have any suggestions post them and make changes to my list if you want, just please back them up. that will stop alot of arguments from starting and will save time and limbs. later days to yall. :evillol:

well i dont know if you have a job beause a b18c5 is ideally only "a dream". Consider a zc. Very reasonably priced and about 135hp. ish

Yeah the Type-R motor unless you have a shit load of money from your parents or something is jut way too expensive.

so instead of the b18c5 what would you guys suggest for my second planned swap for my car? i thjought of a new engine for the list the k20a2-200hp@7000,143trq@6000(11:1). the compression is the only thing that doesn't look good. that is just me i still don't know that much about compression and all that just that it can cuase early combustion or something. o yeah i thought i might point this out, i was thinking of eventually going with a different manufacturer's engine all together. just a thought to be thrown in the mix. wishful thinking huh. :evillol:

well you got alot of stuff wrong so i'm in a good mood *buzzing and just got puss* so i'll give a hand
SOHC vtec good move easier swap and not shabby power wise
ITR motor whats the bad things about this hmm hmm hmm?? cost is really only down side
CRV-TEC not always low comp depends on pistons need good builder
Y not go with DOHC ZC or b16a heck LS motor will haul a lil HF quick
GSR would be sweet too. fucking a my head is spinning and i'm posting lol

For a first swap, I would suggest saving up a little money and starting with a d series such as a ZC, Y8, or Z6, maybe even an A6. That'll keep you going thru high school....you'll have some fun with those motors. Then when you've swapped that and have a little experience, you can go for a B16 vtec, or LS B18. They come in to the 1500-2000 dollar range for the whole swap to be running in ur car. U'll surprise a bunch of people with those. The main thing is to go with a motor you believe in. Many people will say forget the dseries swap and get a b16. But, if you know what ur doing and believe in yourself and don't listen to others, you can build anything capable of being powerful. I would suggest an A6 as your VERY FIRST swap. You can get these for like 200-400 dollars and you can use all of your existing parts to get it running. That motor is nice with the si tranny if you just want something to begin with and get you going.

okay. i have a new idea for this thread. why don't you guys post lists of what you think a kid like me should start with and why those would be good choices for engines and so on and so on. i'm just tired right now of lots of stuff, i mean my girlfriend and i just split, i got in trouble with the smokies and i'm moving soon and my grades aren't the best. the last is not entirerly my fault ,my vacation cut into school. any ways just post what you think will help and i'll go from there. thanks for yalls help so far. :evillol:

I was running with the stock ktor for about six months, now have decided to upgrade to the b16a1, I did some research and decided that, yes it was more expensive, but in the long run it has enough power, and gives me a good platform to build off of

i must admit, that you are probably the most level headed 14 year old ive seen on this site, or heard of for that matter. the fact that you didnt TyPe LiKe ThIs says a whole lot about you, and you didnt even say Yo! once.
if you have the HF, you obviously cant drive it yet. so i would suggest that you clean the car up and fix every single thing that is broken on the body. then i suggest getting a b16a1 if you have the money for it. its in the platform with the most options, and its the cheapest VTEC engine on that platform. its also the easiest VTEC b-series to drop into this particular body style.
youve got a lot of time to think about it and prepare for the day you can actually drive it, so if i were you i would be fixing everything on the car that isnt drivetrain related (since its gonna get swapped out) and then save save save for the engine you want.
