posi vs. spool

posi vs. spool, what's the difference? btw, talking about moser 12 bolt rear ends.

spool is a solid link, makes the two axles a single unit, zero slip, but also dosnt allow the wheels to turn differnt speeds like the posi does for going around corners.

You can "get away" with a spool on the road as long as you have soft sidewall tires, be prepared to spend a boatload of money in tires though

A spool on the road....... Oh man I would love to be behind that guy!!! LoL

My grandpa had one on his nova. as long as the drag radials or slicks where on it, it was not bad at all. If it had regular street tire though, watch out and get ready for a ride. Another porblem with spols that we had is we kept on shucking them out of the rearend...

no prob, as far as the street, posi it is, as far as drag racing, spool is probly better.

What about a locker?

A Locker is a tad more forgiving on the road than a spool but it still is really not meant for anywhere but the track. If you just need that spool like traction at the track but it's a daily driver you could always look at the ECTED.

closest thing for the street that i know of, that is liveable, is a torsen unit. thats what im putting in my car. and many fourth gen camaros and firechickens had them stock.
