DET Emissions

For all of you contemplating a DET and are worried about passing the sniffer, I would like to again confirm that a DET can pass emissions w/o running EGR.....

Kerry took the G for inspection today. No special preparation, not even running hard right before the inspection to keep the cat nice and hot.

High speed test (2501 rpm)

HC Std 220 Act 67 Pass
CO Std 1.20 Act 0.49 Pass
CO2 Act 13.8
O2 Act 0.7
Dillution
Std > 6.0% Act 14.3% Pass

Low speed test (790 rpm)

HC Std 220 Act 157 Pass
CO Std 1.20 Act 0.38 Pass
CO2 Act 13.6
O2 Act 1.1
Dillution
Std > 6.0% Act 14.0% Pass

The only thing that was even remotely a concern was low speed HC and that was only less than 60% of standard.

Oh, and all of this was with a 5 year old Random Tech cat with 120k miles.

Those are nice numbers. My G passed with flying colors as well! :D
But... Here in Az they test for NOx too, that's what got me on my old car when my egr wasn't working right. I'd be curious to see how a DET affects NOx, cause i know the lower cd helps, but the lack of egr... hmm.. Anyways.... good job.

nice specs, do they do a visual inspection over there in texas? are the standards for passing the sniffer test different in other states? hope not, if it is, id expect california to be more strict.
