ENGINE LIGHT - AGAIN & AGAIN AFTER RESETTING

Hello..this Forum Has Helped Me Tremendously With Other Vehicles I've Had.
Anyhow...my Engine Light Went On A Few Days Ago. I Researched The Net And After Hours Of Homework, I've Concluded That It Was The O2 Sensor #1. Went To Autozone, Bought A New Sensor And Installed It In Under 5 Minutes. I Read On The Previous Forums How To Reset The Engine Light (by Pulling One Of The Fuse Under The Hood).
Well...the Light Went Away....but Within A Day Or Two, The Engine Light Re-appeared...this Made Me Worry A Little More...so I Went Back To Autozone And Had Them Run The Obd-2 Scanner... The Scanner Showed A Code P1457....
P1457 Translates To "evap Control System Leak Detected - Problem Area Auxiliary Emissions Control System"
So I Called The Honda Dealership; Told Them About The Code, And They Said It's Most Probably The Gas Cap. The Service Mgr Said To Buy A New Oem Honda Gas Cap (not A Generic).
Well, Since I Work For A Dealership, We Had A 2001 Honda Accord Lx. Mine Is A 1998 Lx. They Have The Same Body Styles. I Swapped Gas Caps And Fit Just Fine.
Now...i Once Again Pulled The Fuse From The Hood To Reset The Engine Light. Now, If The Light Turns Back On, I'm Guessing There's Something Completely Wrong With My Emission Component (s)...
Sorry For Making This Such A Long Essay..... Any Help Or Suggestions Will Be Greatly Appreciated!!!

You replaced the old cap with an old cap? You might have a vaccume leak somewhere.

I also just started getting this annoying error. Which fuse under the hood did you pull to reset the light? I just reset mine yesterday on 2/16/05, if the light comes back on, I'm going to call the Honda Dealer to get their advice (Hopefully its helpful).

To the original poster, you may try disconnecting the battery for 15 mins to reset it. ( But make sure you have teh security code for your radio before doing this)
If it is reseting properly, and the light keeps coming on, that means you still haven't found the problem.
I did a search for the error you wrote and found these:

Tan110, welcome to AF, first off, when you have a question, please start a new thread rather than hijacking someone elses.
2ndly, when you get a check engine light, you don't want to just reset it...that light is on for a reason, it is trying to tell you that you have a problem. You need to get your ECU scanned to retrieve the troubleshooting code number and fix the problem. Autozone will retrieve codes for free, but if your car is older than 96 (I think that was the switch over year). Then they wont be able to do it, if this is the case, let us know, and we can give you instructions on how to retrieve the code yourself (it's quite easy).

A p1457 has nothing to do with the cap. A p1456 is a cap. The 1457 is the tank side of the emissions system. It may either be a canister vent shut solenoid or a Bypass solenoid. The canister vent or CVS for short is more common however the Bypass has been know to take out the PCM.
